Prostate Cancer is a cancer that some men get. The cancer is located in a man’s prostate. Most of the time when men do get prostate cancer, they do not end up needing any treatment. It just all depends on how serious the cancer is, and how soon they detect it.
Doctors are not sure what causes this type of cancer. What doctors do know is that it has a lot to do with abnormal cells. If a man has prostate cancer they will experience many symptoms such as blood in your semen as well as your urine, swelling in the legs, difficulty urinating, pain in the pelvic area, bone pain, and less force in urine stream. If you have any of these symptoms that worry you, you may need to consult your doctor so that they can determine whats going on.
Doctors use ultrasounds as well as collecting samples of prostate tissue, to diagnose a man with prostate cancer. If a doctor wants to determine if the cancer has spread, and how far, they will usually give you bone scans, MRI, CT scans, and ultrasounds. There are 5 stages of prostate cancer, and hopefully doctors catch it before it reaches that last stage because that is when the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, lungs, and other organs in your body which will make it more difficult to treat.
If you need treatment for prostate cancer, you may be treated with hormone therapy, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, freezing of the prostate tissue, or even heating of the prostate tissue. Depending on the severity of the cancer, different treatments, if any, will be used. Some men catch it in its first stages where treatment is not necessarily needed. The sooner you go and get tested the better off you’ll be.From the Web
