Alcoholism is a very serious illness that is harder for some people to overcome than others. It can take weeks, months, or even years to give up the habit depending on how long you have been drinking. It is up to the Alcoholic, to decide if and when they want to, and are ready to quit. Sometimes when other people try to force the Alcoholic to quit, it just makes it that much harder to do so. Alcoholism can affect many areas of your life, and in many different ways. Sometimes the Alcoholic is unaware that their drinking is playing these roles in their daily life situations.
Alcoholism in the home can be especially serious if there are young children present when the drinking is taking place, because it can lead to arguments between family members, fighting, and even domestic violence between couples. Depending on the ages of the children caught in the middle of these situations, they might grow up to resent one if not both of the parents involved in the fighting.
Also, if you are struggling with Alcoholism, you might be in the group of people who stay up late drinking at night and struggle to wake up in the morning to take care of your daily responsibilities. If you are up all hours of the night drinking, chances are that you are going to pass out in the early hours of the morning and if you have to be at work in the morning, this is going to be a challenge and could cost you your job, if you are late or do not show up on multiple occasions. For the Alcoholic in social situations, this can be extremely embarrassing if he or she is not responsible with their drinking and cannot control what they say or do. The alcoholic could end up in a situation that he/she will soon regret, once he/she sobers up.From the Web
